September 8, 2014                 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Sportsman Modified Series held its inaugural "Manufacturers Night" presented by Bilstein Shock Absorbers this past Saturday (September 6) on a damp night at Lernerville Speedway.  The successful event saw each driver leave with at least three product prizes!

It's been a good couple weeks for Jeremy Zufall.  On August 23 at Sharon Speedway, the Greensburg, Pa. racer won the GM 602 engine giveaway valued at $3,2000 from Sweeney/Pace Performance and on Saturday night won his second feature of the season.  It was Zufall's first ever at Lernerville win.  Zufall also left the track with a $200 gift certificate for K&N Filters, $100 for Precise Racing Products, and $100 for Jones Racing Products in addition to product packages from VP Small Engine Fuel and Driven Racing Oil that were received by all competing racers.

It was a big night to say the least for Greg Martin.  Not only did the Wilson, New York driver finish third in his first ever Lernerville appearance, but left the track as the big prize winner of the night taking home more than $1,700!  Martin, who leads the Series with five feature victories, won the grand prize- a full custom driver's suit from Velocita-USA valued at $1,000!  Martin also won a complete set of 4130 black FK Rod Ends ($500), two AERO Steel Wheels ($200), and the product package from VP Small Engine Fuels and Driven Racing Oil.

The following companies participated in the inaugural "Manufacturers Night": AERO Wheels, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, Driven Racing Oil, FK Rod Ends, Jones Racing Products, K&N Filters, MSD Ignition, Precise Racing Products, Velocita-USA, and VP Small Engine Fuels.  The complete prize and recipient list is posted below.

"We really have to thank these companies for stepping up and believing in the concept of this division in the inaugural season," stated RUSH Co-Director Vicki Emig.  "As many know, this night will grow each year like our RUSH Late Model version has.  In our third year, we gave over $30,000 of product away to 43 drivers at McKean County Raceway on August 30.  While we were hoping for a few more cars on Saturday night, a few racers had issues that didn't allow them to make it such as Ken Moy, who broke down on the way to the track, a couple of the new drivers weren't quite ready, and the weather was less than ideal."

Up next for the Sweeney RUSH Sportsman Modifieds is a pair of events this weekend at Sharon Speedway as part of the "Apple Festival Nationals".  A complete show will be run both Friday and Saturday.  Racing will get underway at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday night following group time trials for the E-Mods and Econo Mods and approximately 6:30 on Saturday night following group time trials for the Big-Block Modifieds, E-Mods, and Econo Mods.  Gates open at 4 p.m.

Two-day discounted pit passes are available for $55 or $30 each day.  Free camping is allowed from Wednesday night on.  Breakfast will be served from 8-11 a.m. and lunch from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday at the concession stand.  Live entertainment will take place after the races both Friday and Saturday night.

The final events of the inaugural season for the Sweeney RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will be on Saturday, September 27 at Sharon and will conclude at Lernerville at the "Steel City Stampede" on Friday and Saturday, October 24-25.  A $10,000 point fund will be paid to the top 15 member racers at the awards banquet in January.

"While it's been difficult at times to get all of the cars together on the same night, what's taken place this year and the prospects for the division are very encouraging," stated RUSH Co-Director Mike Leone.  "We've had 24 different drivers compete in at least one of the 15 events held to date in 17 different cars.  We had a record 12 cars at our last Sharon event.  In just the last couple weeks, we've received calls and e-mails from six different racers that are either expected to be out by season's end or planning on competing in 2015.  Expect a big announcement at the end of the month that should really spur the growth into the future."
