June 13, 2016             FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Brookville, PA)…
The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Sportsman Modified Series powered by Pace Performance is excited to announce the addition of Thunder Mountain Speedway to its Series in 2016.  Thunder Mountain will host three Friday night Bicknell Racing Products Weekly Series events this summer beginning with the first ever this Friday night (June 17) followed by July 29 and August 19.

Each event will pay the higher Bicknell Weekly Series payoff structure of $500 to-win, $75 to-start and will allow member racers to accumulate points.  The June 17 and August 19 shows will be part of the track’s “Mod Madness” that will also include the “358” Small-Block Modifieds.

Thunder Mountain joins Sharon Speedway, Lernerville Speedway, Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, Tri-City Raceway Park, and Expo Speedway as tracks that are hosting Bicknell Weekly and/or Touring Series events in 2016.  They will become the ninth track in the region to host a Sweeney RUSH Sportsman Modified event since the Series debuted two years ago.

“We’re thrilled to add Thunder Mountain to our RUSH program, and thank promoter Bo Lockwood for giving us the opportunity,” expressed RUSH co-director Vicki Emig.  “Modifieds have had a history in that area.  We had tried to revitalize it two years ago in Clearfield at America’s Motorsports Park, but unfortunately the track closed.  Thunder Mountain isn’t far for many of our racers, and will allow them to present something different to their fans.  The response so far has been positive and hopefully the support is good so more events can be added in 2017.”

Two drivers that are very much looking forward to the events are cousins Nick and Brandon Ritchey, who are two of the closer racers to Thunder Mountain and were hoping the events would come to fruition.  Brandon currently is the only driver to repeat on the circuit this year with a pair of wins at Sharon.  Nick meanwhile has gotten off to a slow start and is winless after winning seven features in 2016.  2015 Bicknell “Futures Cup” Champion, Kole Holden, currently leads the $3,000 to-win Bicknell Weekly Series points, while Kyle Martell leads the “Futures Cup”.

The Bicknell Touring Series meanwhile will kick-off on Sunday, June 19 at Tri-City Raceway Park making for the third ever three-race weekend for the Series as Sharon will host their weekly program on Saturday night.

Thunder Mountain is a 3/8-mile dirt track that was built in 2005, and is in its second year under the leadership of Bo Lockwood.  Thunder Mountain features “305” Sprints, Late Models, Stocks and more weekly on Friday nights.  The track is located at 3406 Ramsaytown Road, Brookville, PA 15825.   For more information, check out their website at www.blmotorsports.net and like them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Thundermountainspeedwaypark.
