FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Sarver, PA)…After a weekend off, the
Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Racing Series powered by Pace Performance heads
to Lernerville Speedway this Friday night (July 1) for another Tour doubleheader
featuring the Sweeney Late Model Touring Series and the Bicknell Racing Products
Sportsman Modified Touring Series.
Race time is 7:30 p.m.
Friday's race is the first of two "Marquee" Tour events for the Late Models at
Lernerville with $2,000 to-win on the line.
Last year, Ryan Montgomery topped a 38-car field in July, while Jacob
Hawkins won his first career Tour race over an all-time Northeast crate record
54-car field at the "Steel City Stampede" in October.
The Sweeney Tour points race is tight with just six points separating the top
three drivers as Wayne County Speedway winner, Mike Pegher, Jr., has a
four-point advantage on two-time winner John Waters and six points on Bryce
Davis, the Series' most recent winner at Tri-City.
After his career best Tour runner-up finish at Tri-City, Will Thomas III
has moved up to fourth in points over brothers Jason and Brian Knowles.
Other Tour winners this season include Matt Latta, Rob Blair, and Andy
Boozel.
The Sportsman Modifieds will also be competing in their first of two of Bicknell
Tour events at Lernerville as they'll also return for the "Steel City Stampede"
in October. Unlike the Late Models
though, the Sportsman Mods have run a pair of Bicknell Weekly Series events
already at the Sarver, Pa. oval this season.
Friday's race will pay $600 to-win
Kole Holden won his first ever at Lernerville in April and then Brian
Schaffer won the May 13 race for his first career win over a 20-car field- the
highest for the division at Lernerville.
The Series is coming off a record high car count of 26 last Saturday at Sharon
for "Manufacturers Night" presented by MSD Performance as Chas Wolbert won his
first career race in the division.
That also propelled the Mod Lite graduate into the Bicknell Tour point lead by
four over Schaffer, who lost the lead on the final lap at Sharon.
"We always get a good turnout for our Late Model events at Lernerville," stated
RUSH Director Vicki Emig. "The
racing is always top notch as Lernerville's surface is very conducive to good
crate racing. It's also been good to
see the car counts increase for the two Sportsman Mod weekly events and except a
good turnout Friday for their third Tour event of the season.
It should be a great event for the fans as the non-wing BOSS Sprints and
the competitive Stock Cars are also on the program for just $14 admission.
We have to thank Lernerville for their continued support of RUSH."
The Bobby Lake Motorsports "Shock the Clock & Beat the Heat" program will be in
effect for the Late Models with $100 going to the fastest qualifier and $25
to-win each heat race. The K&N “Cold
Air Induction” Dash will be run for each class paying a $100 K&N certificate to
win, $50 K&N certificate for second with $25 cash for third and fourth place.
For the Late Models, the dash will set the beginning rows of the line-up,
while for the Mods will set the line-up for the first four positions outside of
the redraw cars.
For both classes, Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the
"Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature.
The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three
bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a
certificate for a discount off any TBM Brakes purchase.
RUSH Officials will choose the "Maxima Performance" Award for a driver that
exhibits a performance worthy of such. The winners will receive a free case of
either Maxima Semi-Syn High Performance Racing Oil or Maxima Performance Racing
Oil of your choice. In addition, the winner will receive one can of SC-1
clear coat, one 16-oz bottle of Maxima Cool-Aide concentrate, one 32-oz quart of
Maxima PSF power steering fluid, and a Maxima t-shirt. The value of this
prize package is $170!
Also, CrateInsider.com will award a $25 gift certificate to the driver that
finishes last on the lead lap at the finish of each feature.
And for the Modifieds, Sherwood Racing
Wheels "Man of Steel" award will see a racer that bounced back from an earlier
mishap earn a free wheel! The first
non-qualifier in the Late Models will receive an ARbodies nosed kit valued at
$260 for the "Nosed Out" contingency.
