December 20, 2019             FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Conneaut, OH)...The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Sportsman Modified Series powered by Pace Performance is excited to announce that Raceway 7 will host the division on a bi-weekly basis on Friday nights in 2020!  The 7/16-mile Conneaut, Ohio track's events will be part of the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Weekly Series Championship plus there will be a separate "Route 7 Rumble" cumulative point fund series presented by Wedge Motorsports for the Raceway 7 and Sharon Speedway events!  Raceway 7 will rotate the Street Stocks and RUSH Mods throughout the season with both running bi-weekly.  In addition, Raceway 7 will have a five-position weekly track point fund for both the RUSH Mods and Stocks!

Raceway 7 used to be a hotbed for weekly Big-Block Modified racing from 1975-1989, but since has only ran special events for various Northeast center-steer Modifieds divisions.  Five RUSH Sportsman Modified events have been contested in the history of the division at Raceway 7 with five different winners!  Adam Hilton and Dave Conant, Jr. won events during the inaugural 2014 season.  After a four-year hiatus from Raceway 7, Justin Shea won a thrilling event in 2018.  This past season saw Chas Wolbert and Rob Kristyak share victories during the month of June.

"We were thrilled when the McDonalds called about bringing the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds to Raceway 7 on a bi-weekly basis in 2020," stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig.  "The shows there over the years have been exciting and racers are always wanting to race there more.  The RUSH Mods will give Raceway 7's fans something different to watch throughout the season, and rekindle some of the Modified memories from years gone by.  Raceway 7 just concluded their second year running our RUSH Late Models weekly and averaged a strong 21 cars per night for their weekly events."

The "Route 7 Rumble" Series presented by Wedge Motorsports will be a new point fund for 2020.  A cumulative point system for all races between Raceway 7 and Sharon will be used with the top eight drivers in points sharing $2,500 with $1,000 going to the champion!  Drivers must be a RUSH member to be eligible for the point fund.

It was already announced in the fall that the 2020 Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Weekly Series Champion for the Sweeney RUSH Mods will take home $3,500 with an increase in all 20 points-paying positions!  Each points-paying position will increase from $100-$500, which represents a 36% increase over the 2019 points fund, and marks the second point fund increase since the Series debuted in 2014!

"We're coming off a season where more drivers participated than ever in the division," stated Emig.  "Sharon has averaged between 24-28 cars each of the last four years and only on four nights during that period has the car count dipped below 20 cars- an almost unheard of statistic for weekly racing today!  With all that said, we were pleased to increase the Weekly point fund for 2020, and now with the addition of the Raceway 7 events it'll be possible for a driver to win $4,500 not even counting the point funds at each track and the Touring Series!  We're excited about the upcoming season and the continued forward momentum of the division."

The 2020 season for the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will open up on Friday, April 11 at Tyler County Speedway for an $800 to-win Hovis Touring Series event part of "RUSH Night" at "The Bullring" in Middlebourne, West Virginia.  A complete schedule of events for the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will be announced soon.
